The Department of English Language is one of the distinguished departments in the Faculty of Languages and Translation. It stands out from other English language departments in other colleges due to the diversity of its courses. The Department of English Language is part of the humanities departments belonging to the system of departments in the Faculty of Languages and Translation. It adheres to quality standards, respects values and ethical principles, and encourages excellence in education and scientific research. It promotes and encourages the utilization of quality programs that serve education and scientific research, utilizing these programs and study courses to serve the generation of the future.

Mission

The department strives to academically and professionally prepare qualified human resources in the field of English language who are capable of competing in the local and global job market, as well as in the field of academic research, through strengthening a high-quality program.

Goals

Graduating competent and distinguished students who have a strong command of the English language, its sciences, literature, and linguistics.
Conducting theoretical, experimental, and comparative research in the field of English language and its sciences.
Refining students' critical and creative thinking skills and enhancing their research capabilities in the specialized field.

Department of Arabic Language and Oriental Studies


About

The Department of Arabic Language was established under the name of 'Department of Arabic Language and Eastern Languages,' as an academic department within the Faculty of Languages and Translation, which was established by Council of Ministers’ Decision No. 197 of 2015. The department grants a Bachelor's degree in Arabic Language, both in regular and affiliated systems. Later, the name of the department was changed to 'Department of Arabic Language' after its approval by the department council, followed by the faculty council and the university council.
The education system in the Department of Arabic Language consists of two tracks: regular (full-time) and affiliated (part-time). The department follows a semi-open semester system, where there are mandatory courses that must be taken in each academic semester, as well as elective courses. This means that students have the option to either study the elective courses specified for them or postpone them to another semester. In both cases, it is required for the student to complete the elective courses in order to obtain a bachelor's degree in the department.

Department of Translation and Arabisation


About

The Translation and Arabization Department is considered one of the pillars of the Faculty of Languages and Translation. It was inaugurated in 2016 and currently has 100 male and female students enrolled in the Bachelor's degree program in translation. The department is staffed by faculty members who hold doctoral and master's degrees in translation.

During this program, students study eight academic semesters and complete a graduation project in the eighth semester prior to graduation. By that time, the student will have successfully completed 153 credit hours.
We take pride in the fact that the department of Translation and Arabization in the Faculty of Languages and Translation is the first of its kind in Misurata University concerning the field of Translation as we hope it would enrich the community with highly-competent cadres in the field.

Mission

The Department of Translation and Arabisation is the first of its kind in Misurata University, therefore it seeks to achieve leadership and work according to global standards. Additionally ,the department aims at providing well-qualified professional cadres of specialized translators and train them for working in different fields.

Goals

Firstly: General Goals:
1. Keeping pace with world development as the department will enrich the community with qualified cadres in the field of Translation.
2. Creating cadres for integrating them into the community and state institutions in order to utilize their academic and professional expertise to enrich and develop the community.
3. Raising the level of performance and quality aiming at contributing to the promotion of the faculty of Languages and Translation in particular and Misurata University as a whole to reach the level of top faculties worldwide.

Secondly: Educational Goals:
1 Training qualified professional personnel in the areas of translation and interpretation.
2 Developing the competencies and performance of the teaching staff members, researchers and students.
3 Professional academic Training of specialists in the field of translation and the sciences related to it, in a way that enables them to continue their higher studies and facilitates their pursuit of Master and PHD degrees at home and abroad.

Thirdly: Goals of Scientific Research:
1 Encouraging research, literary compositions, publications, and investigation in language and translation.
2 participating in international conferences in the area of translation.
3 Deepening the culture of dialogue across cultures.

Fourthly: Community Service Goals:
1 Supporting community activities through symposiums, scientific conferences, and practical sessions in the various fields of translation.
2 Doing translation and interpretation works, as well as providing expertise and guidance for both private and public sectors.
3 To the extent possible, adapting educational programs and training activities to labour market requirements.

Fifthly: Goals of Student Activities:
1 Supporting student, cultural and social activities.
2 Sharing knowledge as well as scientific and cultural exchange with other departments, faculties and universities.
3 Organizing an annual scientific forum for research projects of graduates (graduation projects) as well as honoring and awarding outstanding ones.

Vision

Strengthening the nation-building process by providing highly-competent personnel, who are trained through distinctive educational programs, in addition to providing the labour-market with cadres who are remarkable professionally, culturally, scientifically, and above all in terms of scientific research.
