Our Dean

In the name of Allah, peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah.

Languages and translation play a significant role in shaping the history of nations, building civilizations, and unifying knowledge. Language serves as a bridge that connects distances no matter how far they may be. It is an essential tool for human communication, a means of dialogue, understanding, and transforming the world into a small village, a tightly interconnected network that encourages dialogue, the exchange of ideas, and the enrichment of knowledge and culture. Therefore, learning and teaching languages have become crucial for understanding civilizations and increasing linguistic, cultural, and intellectual resources.

Misrata University has shown great interest in establishing a specialized Faculty of Languages and Translation on theoretical and practical foundations, aiming to be a scientific and knowledge hub that enhances scientific research and linguistic communication in language and translation disciplines.

The college and its administration are dedicated to the quality of education, scientific research, and leadership, aiming to develop the knowledge and skills of its graduates and keep pace with leading countries in the fields of languages and translation. The faculty continuously works on enhancing the quality of its outputs through ongoing development in line with the new strategy adopted by the university. In this regard, the faculty strives diligently, through its academic programs, to introduce new specializations that meet the requirements of the times and fulfill the needs of the job market by providing the community with specialists in the field of languages and translation.

May Allah grant us success and guidance.

Abdulhakim Mohammad Maslli
Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Translation

Vision

The Faculty of Languages and Translation at Misrata University aspires to study the human linguistic heritage and envision its future through studying the language evolution of nations and their linguistic thoughts. It also aims to explore various aspects of linguistic knowledge, including history, literature, wisdom, culture, and more.

The faculty seeks to equip its students with a solid foundation in language that enables them to develop themselves, their communities, and humanity as a whole towards a life driven by knowledge, fostering understanding, and reaching for a brighter future.

Mission

The faculty of languages and Translation believes that having one common language in a community (being a monolingual community) is the way to bring about understanding, rapprochement and cooperation between members of the community.
On the other hand, learning other languages for the purpose of acquiring human knowledge is another way to extend understanding, rapprochement and cooperation
starting from the level of homeland, countries of the region, the continent, reaching the level of the whole world in a fruitful step to expanding the reach, scope and impact of cooperation and understanding regardless of gender, race and religion, aiming at making relations with countries of the world, becoming better informed about each other and promoting dialogue among cultures and civilizations. In this regard, God Almighty urged us to do so as he said in the Holy Quran: " O you mankind, surely We created you of a male and a female, and We have made you races and tribes so that you may get mutually acquainted. Surely the most honorable among you in the Providence of Allah are the most pious; surely Allah is Ever-Knowing, Ever-Cognizant ".
